United States Archives Addresses by State
Archives often records of individuals and families relating to the history of the state including military records and pension files, county and local histories, diaries, letters, manuscripts, directories, tax rolls, county deeds, estate papers, mortgages, assessment books, land grants, voter registration rolls, photographs and other unusual materials. Sometimes, the state archives will hold birth, marriage, death and probate records. Many have photographic prints and negatives, maps, postcards, posters, audio recordings, and motion picture films.
